Audi A6 Design
Audi A6 is a limousine that can be classified as an "almost luxury car", it is rather an upper medium car. It is in production since 1994 and there are two body types available: a limo (4 doors) and a station wagon Avant.
The latest model limo was chosen "The Automobile #1 in Europe" during Genevan motor show in 2005. What is more, the readers of "Auto Motor and Sport" magazine named it the winner in its class. Moreover, ADAC awarded it with "Yellow Angel 2005" prize. All these events couldn`t but affected the sales volume. In 2005 A6 managed to end a 30-year rule of well-known Mercedes in the upper medium class of the German market. A6 being #1 was a bit ahead of E class and BMW 5-series. A6 defended and consolidated its leadership in January of 2006. This model was the best sold one in Europe in 2005.
A6 S6 ended Audi 100 era in 1994. A new model`s code was introduced: "Audi A x". The first Audi A6 was minimally restyled Audi 100 C4 that was produced as Audi A6 C4 till 1997.
Audi A6 Avant (4F type)
4F type was introduced in April, 2004 as a limo. Station wagon (Avant) was introduced in March, 2005. During January-December period (2006) there were 63621 cars registered in Germany. Audi S6 and Avant S6 as well as Allroad Quattro were put into production in the middle of 2006. The list of standard equipment modern A6 boasts of includes adaptive Cruise Control, Adaptive Air Suspension, and a system of dynamic road illumination while turning. What is more, A6 is the first automobile provided with an automobile phone Bluetooth with SIM Access Profile.
Greatly extended dimensions and an effective single frame grille are the elements that differ 4F from the preceding model.
A6 diesel version boasts of bent exhaust pipes, while the gasoline powered model have them straight.
A6L is sold in China since 2005, which is an extended A6 version.
